Internet 'speeds up job search'

By Paul Goatman

Using the internet when looking for employment can help speed up the recruitment process for candidates and companies, it has been claimed.

Patrice Barbadette, founder of people solutions provider Jobpartners, commented that companies need to recognise technology has changed the way people interact.

He added: "As a result, recruitment processes are moving online as organisations see it as way to speed up the recruitment process and importantly at less cost."

Mr Barbadette went on to say that online recruitment technology helps human resources departments to manage the entire hiring process from publishing vacancies and sorting through CVs, to scheduling interviews via SMS.

He added that the technology allows candidates to track the status of their application at every stage, as opposed to older systems that allowed companies to operate a 'don't call us, we'll call you' policy.

The February 2009 Monster Employment Index UK rose by six points during the month, indicating online recruitment activity showed a degree of expansion, following three months of contraction.
