Jobseeker market 'remains robust'

The recruitment market remains dynamic despite the difficult economic climate, it has been claimed.

According to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), many people are still finding they are able to find work and the group pointed to figures indicating 276,900 people came off unemployment benefits last month, 22,500 more than in the previous month.

A DWP representative commented: "It is harder for people to find work at the moment and we know that is very distressing for people who are looking for a job. However, it is worth remembering that we still have a dynamic labour market."

The department went on to say it will continue to provide real help for people so that they can get back to work as quickly as possible.

The DWP has stated that from the start of this month jobseekers can get more help from day one of their claim, while the 25 per cent who do not move off benefits within six months now have access to greater support to get back into work.
