'Dodge interview pitfalls' to make good impression
Coming across as overly needy or unfocused in a job interview are among the behaviours that should be avoided by those seeking sales jobs, it has been stressed.
Writing for Canada.com, freelance journalist Donne Nebenzahl said falling into an answer-only rut, rambling or being overly familiar with interviewers are also traps that need to be sidestepped by candidates, such as those pursuing sales jobs.
She added: "If you don't understand something the interviewer says, ask. That will make a lot more sense than guessing what your interviewer meant to say.
"It will help dispel your nervousness if you find out as much as you can what the job is really about."
Ms Nebenzahl went on to say that knowing a great deal about a company will allow candidates to arrive with a list of several prepared questions about the job and the people who work there.
Earlier this week CILT, the National Centre for Languages, commented that people looking for employment could benefit from being able to speak a second language.
