Detail, detail, detail 'is the key to sales recruitment success'

Job hunters have been told that they need to look after the small details in order to have sales recruitment success.

Richard Averitte, sales recruitment expert for Smithfield's Chicken N Bar B-Q, said that he pays close attention to the small details when looking to appoint a new member of staff.

He advised that the smallest things can be critical, such as creating a professional voicemail on a mobile phone, so that any recruiters are not greeted by a raucous message.

Replying to emails is also a key aspect. Not responding to an interview request tells recruiters that the candidate is not a good communicator, while failing to bring requested documents shows that the person cannot follow instructions correctly.

"Doing an internet search on us and spouting out facts does not impress me. I want to know how their experience was in one of our stores and why they chose to apply with us. They should let their potential employer know why they applied," he added.

Louise Giordano from US recruitment website QuintCareers.com commented that the biggest mistake for candidates to make is not being prepared for an interview, as it shows their lack of research and preparation skills.
