Flexible working 'has benefited the UK during the recession'
Flexible and part-time working arrangements are one of the key reasons why unemployment in the UK is lower than on the continent, a leading organisation has claimed.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has emphasised the value of this working model and the fact that it offers those out of work the opportunity to progress in the jobs market.
Those in temporary sales jobs will be among those who are taking advantage of this model, which the organisation has suggested could be a way of accessing permanent opportunities.
Tom Hadley, director of external relations at the REC, has described this trend as an inevitability.
He said: "It is important to move away from the out-dated notion that traditional full-time work is the only viable form of employment."
The group recently called on the government to give job creation the importance it deserves, suggesting that this is crucial to the UK's economic future.
